These belly dance pictures are not photo shopped (apart from a bit of cropping and contrast changes plus the one time machined photo)! Maybe I will add some altered pics in the future for a bit of fun but if I am being hired to dance then I think you should know the reality. This is how I look!
I have tried to include a few different looks here for variety, the medieval look is one of a few looks we use for medieval or historical events. There are also a few costumes I bought in Cairo (the black and bronze ones), a baladi outfit and a couple that were a blend between tribal and folkloric. There is an example of a bellynesian outfit and one of my Turkish costumes.
The Trash to Treasure Bellingen Belly Dance outfit was made entirely out of clothing and fabric that was ready for the bin. The Skirt was cut out of old table cloths and dyed and printed. The top was out of a very damaged men’s Indian vest with the loose bit sewn on to the belt. I even made a necklace from river stones and an arm band out of a feather and some coral! Old coins, gumnuts, bells, scraps of embroidery and old buttons complete the look. Cost approx $10 AUD to make (needles and thread mostly). Much, much, much cheaper than my other costumes that I bought from designers in the middle east – but each costumes serves a different purpose. :)
