Our First ever end of year concert!!!! YAY!

Bra making workshop and video afternoon

This afternoon is a free social event – normally I would run these separately but I know some of you have a long way to travel so I am combining them to make it easier. It is not really an event for younger children as they would get pretty bored so take some time out for yourself and come and relax with the ladies. We will watch some highlights from great dvd’s from my extremely extensive collection (some would say I have a bit of an obsession!)

Also I have been told Haven is coming. This is the belly dance market stand that is closing down. That would mean massive bargains for you as everything is half price and Heidi just wants to clear things out. Spare skirt for $10 – bargain!!!!!

I will have all sorts of bits and bobs for your costumes (if you already have a bra please bring along another sewing project and I will give you a hand). An event for belly dancers and non belly dancers alike (women only though!!).

Skilled sewers that want to join in a share their wisdom or just work on a project with a lovely group of ladies are welcome to join us. If you have tribal do-dads you want to sell or bits and pieces you want to give away to a good home (ie broken jewelery, single earrings, tassels, bits of trim or pretty fabric scraps) bring those along too, its an awesome way to recycle! We can all help each other create unique masterpieces !!

Zill workshop

Why: Zills -That’s Turkish for finger cymbals. This is a great skill to learn but takes up so much dancing time in class that I wanted to introduce it in a workshop first. It does take a little practice at home to be able to keep the beat and dance at the same time but it is worth the effort.

For the first time EVER! I will be offering a kids dance workshop too.

The best place to buy zills that I know of is from master bell maker Saroyan. The only trouble is that he adds a lot for postage to overseas destinations like Australia (like $55US!! and their customer service sux, but their product is excellent, so I persist both price wise and difficulty wise it is best to order as a group). The website has sound files of all zills available. I recommend mini zills for smaller children and Arabesque for new dancers. All zill orders need to be made this week so have a look and decide if you want some – you need to have zills to participate in the workshop.

Kylies Hafla

Toormina belly dance teacher Kylie aka xaeda is running a big dance workshop day and concert in Coffs harbour on the 11^th of August. There will be several workshops running with different teachers all day – The full line up has yet to be announced but workshops will be 1.5hrs long and cost $25 each. I will most likely be teaching my workshop entitled “Combinations from Cairo – Jade shares what she learnt from the masters in Egypt. Come along, have some fun and infuse your dance with some authentic moves direct from the home land of belly dance.”

There is a concert later that evening. Location: Club Coffs , Waratah Room

Bellingen Golf Club Fundraiser – 28th April

Jade and her a few of her advanced dancers will be opening the variety show at 8 pm. Catch the glamour and glitz and support our local sporting club.

World Belly Dance Day May 12th!!

Jade Belly Dance will parade and students will do some fun performance pieces to join in the festivities at the Bellingen Showground.

9am- Parade!

Dancers from Jade Belly Dance will entertain the crowd. Don’t miss the Hababies! (The kids class) with their self choreographed number that includes cartwheels!! It will also be the first public performances of our super hot Bellynesian piece. The Dorrigo ladies have decided to be wonderfully confident (I am so proud!) and perform the mother’s dance.
