Weekly Photo Challenge: Green

Had to participate in this word press photo challenge! Jade is a shade of green after all.

So may I present my belly dance snap shots in green (+ a couple of photos of me by the talented Leigh Jensen and Bruce Thomas).

Green is also a notoriously difficult colour to get in belly dance costumes and is really hard to accessorise.

Blue seems to be a lot more forgiving when it comes to mixing different shades but I love green so much I just keep trying to find a great green outfit. I am pretty happy with my mostly home-made olive green bellynesian outfit and my new green and black custom made outfit from Egypt that I have yet to wear (the bra getting altered below is part of that ensemble) but my favourite green costume in terms of versatility, comfort, shade of green and price is the beaded green costume that I am wearing in the fairy garden below.

I hadn’t intended on most of the pictures being of me  – but I don’t know many other people that wear green as much as I do!!

What’s your favourite coloured (colored) costume? Have you had trouble finding a look that is just right? Comment below.

How pretty are you in that colour? I think it suits you lovely.. Green is a marvelous colour for you, goes great with the colour of your hair, and eyes! Wouldn’t do it differently if I were you 🙂

As for me, I tend to mostly go for black costume pieces and switch colours in the basics like the tops or scarves. Currently I have pieces in bright red, purple and green.. it leaves me a lot to mix and match with.

However, I’ve yet to buy one of those real grown-up belly dancer outfits. Not entirely certain which way I’d go there.. I like purple and red a lot though, maybe even matched together with pink? 🙂

Thank you! I must confess to loving purple too, my other favourite costume colour.
The first “grown-up” costume 😉 I bought was from ebay. (I have been meaning to do a blog about the ins and outs of online costume purchases) – that was the bright green one that wasn’t really what I was hoping for. I figured it was all a waste of money and was only going to make costumes after that but when I was in Egypt helping other dancers try on outfits I got talked into trying on costumes that I never would have picked out for myself. It was so fun. I ended up buying a bronze outfit that I love!!!! I thought I would look crap in bronze! My advice would be to go to Cairo with other dancers and go wild, try on everything, the sellers will adjust them to fit. If that is not possible then stay tuned for my future post on buying online, I have gotten better at it!
PS: I love purple and red together, very striking on stage.

I’ll be looking out for that post anyways, regardless of what lies in the future heheh. On the 1st of December we’re going to Duisburg in Germany with a couple of women from our danceschool, for a big, BIG show that’s organised once per year. And apparently they have a bazaar counting 3 floors filled with costumes, accessories and props, so I’ll be definitely having a look there to see if I get more ideas..

And the, yes. Cairo. That’d be gorgeous.. 🙂
